Macheda completes move away from Old Trafford

As expected, Federico Macheda has completed a loan move to Queens Park Rangers. The striker’s agent revealed earlier this week that his client was 95% likely to move to Loftus Road – and he has now made the switch for the remainder of the season.

Macheda is struggling for first-team opportunities at Old Trafford and will be hoping to make a big impact at QPR.

20-year-old Macheda has not started a Premier League game for the Red Devils this season, though he has made a number of appearances from the substitute’s bench.

The Italian is currently behind Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov, Michael Owen and Javier Hernandez in United’s pecking order – but will be hoping a successful spell in London could catch Sir Alex Ferguson’s eye.

Neil Warnock has described the deal as a “great opportunity” for both parties, with his Rangers side presently teetering nervously above the Premier League’s drop zone.
