Schofield named as best in October

City manager John Schofield has won Manager of the Month following a highly successful 4 games in October that saw 12 points. Getting this award is a mixed bag for the Imps as although it's a deserved recognition for Schofield, it means that City now have "the curse" to avoid.

City won all 4 of their matches during October, scoring 15 goals along the way and went top of the table for the first time since John Beck's City went top in 1997. Considering Schofield is just 3 months into the job makes the achievement even more creditable. Ironically, Schofield beat Stockport manager Jim Gannon to the award, just 2 days before the Imps travel to Edgeley Park.

Keith Alexander twice won manager of the month and had a mixed record afterwards. The first came for a perfect November in 2004 where the Imps won 3 from 3 including coming from 2-0 down to beat Northampton. However, City's 4 games in the following month failed to produce a win, losing 2 and drawing 2. The second time was for City's record during February this year when City won 4 from 5 and turned a midtable season into a pursuit for the palyoffs. City won 1 of their 4 games in March but lost twice and drew 1.
