Birch quickly links up with Telford

Recently released striker Gary Birch has wasted no time in finding new employment as he links up with AFC Telford. Less than 24 hours after leaving Sincil Bank, the striker put pen to paper on a deal at the Shropshire side that will see him stay there until the end of the current season.

After only leaving Sincil Bank on Thursday, Birch was quickly offered contracts by several other midlands based cubs, believed to be Tamworth and Hednesford, but Telford offered the striker the best deal and he will entered in an ideal position, at the top of the league.

AFC Telford have won 16, drew 8 and lost just once this year as they try and recover from Telford United going out of business during the 2003/4 season. If they do win promotion from the same divison as Lincoln United, and Grantham Town, they will more than likely entered the Conference South, just one step below where their previous incarnation was.

Gary Birch will also link up with former Imp, Scott Willis.
