The long awaited Premiership player is....

Lincoln City have signed (a medical pending) defensive midfielder Paul Green from Premiership side, Aston Villa. It comes as no surprise that the long awaited Premiership signing came from Aston Villa, as John Deehan has used his connections to link us several times to Martin O'Neill's men.

Earlier in the season, a behind-close-doors friendly between the two sides saw Villa run out 4-2 winners, with Green playing in that squad. Although playing in several friendlies that included him playing with the likes of Juan Pablo Angel, Wilfred Bouma, and Thomas Sorenson. Despite this however, he never made a first team appearance for Villa in a competitive game, this is still a coup for City though.

Green is a defensive midfielder, and only one other player at Sincil Bank matches that description, so it could be interesting to see if Green can dislodge Scott Kerr.

Green is expected to sign (subject to a medical) on Monday, and will more than likely feature in the squad against Peterborough next week.
