Reserves beat Shrewsbury to progress to final

Lincoln City's reserve side have booked their place in the Pontins League Cup final with a 4-2 win over Shrewsbury. In a surprisingly entertaining affair, Shrewsbury took the lead before some very dodgy goalkeeping ensured City reached the final of the competition.

Shrewsbury took an early lead before Shane Clarke produced a spectacular 30 yard effort that took a slight deflection past Shearer. The keeper was left to rue a mistake just before half time when he flapped at a cross, before Tom Garrick smashed the ball home into an empty net after N'Guessan's effort was cleared off the line.

Shrewsbury equalised thanks to a fantastic 25 yard free kick that Olejnik could only push into the net. It was quickly 3-2 to City however as N'Guessan was fouled in the area, with Leon Mettam scoring from the subsequent penalty. N'Guessan rounded off ths scoring with a neat effort from the edge of the area.

City will face Hartlepool in the final, date and venue to be confirmed.
