Bookies put Lincoln in at 12th favourites

Lincoln City are the 12th favourites for the title next season according to the first odds to be published following the final game of the League Two 2006/7 season. It's hardly surprising that the bookies have yet again gone for the club with the most money to win the title....not prizes for guess who that is. There is also a surprise down at the bottom of their odds.

The odds see Peterborough as the favourites at 7/1, hardly surprising given that they're the richest. It's not the first time that this has happened either, Hull City were the favourites for 5 years running just because they had the most money, then it was Northampton Town. Wycombe and Swindon then followed as the favourites in the last 2 years, it's been a very long time since the bookies successfully predicted the Champions.

All 4 relegated sides are predicted for top 7 finishes whereas high spenders MK Dons and Darlington are also tipped for good seasons. Despite collapsing heavily in the second half the season, Wycombe are 8th favourites whereas the most inform team in the same time frame only comes in at 9th favourites.

Perhaps the biggest surprise of all though comes with Mansfield being one of the three joint favourites for relegation. Macclesfield are also a very odd choice to be where they are.

City are yet again given very little chance by the bookies, not once in the last 5 years have they predicted City to do well. Infact, we were favourites for the drop in 2002/3 and predicted to finish 22nd last year, let's hope they're as inaccurate as usual.
