Another former Imp completes a summer transfer

In a summer full of ex-Imps moving on to a new side, Gary Taylor-Fletcher has become the latest to depart his club, leaving Huddersfield to move to Blackpool. Taylor-Fletcher spent two seasons at Sincil Bank before being released after the playoff defeat to Southend, he then went to Huddersfield and set a Football League record, before now moving on to recently promoted Blackpool.

Taylor-Fletcher joined the Imps from Leyton Orient back in August 2003, making his debut as a substitute in the 1-0 defeat at Torquay United in the second week of the season.

He subsequently spent his first season here near enough single handedly pushing the Imps into the playoffs. His second season here saw him equal a club record for scoring in the most consecutive games from the start of the season.

His final game for City came in the disappointing playoff final against Southend United. He was released in the following week, scoring 26 goals in his 80 League games over those two years.

The highlight of those two years coming in an away game at Leyton Orient in 2003/4 when he scored both of City's goals in a 2-0 victory for the Imps. The second of which was one of the best goals scored by a City player this century.

He quickly joined Huddersfield Town, leading a lot of fans to come up with a conspiracy theory that he had agreed to join them with several months of that season to go. During his time there he scored the 500,000th goal in Football League history, and also scored the only goal in Huddersfield's away leg at Barnsley in the Playoffs. They would eventually lose 3-2 on aggregate though after a poor second leg performance.

He has now joined Blackpool for an undisclosed fee. It is the first time in his career that he will compete at this level and he joins several ex-Imps in the second tier, most noteably Gareth Ainsworth, Gareth McAuley and Jamie McCombe.
