City to be the Budtz of a joke?

Lincoln City are being linked with a move for Jan Budtz, the goalkeeper of Hartlepool United. He doesn't seem very popular amongst the "Poolies" and the 6'4 goalkeeper kept just 6 clean sheets in 34 matches in the 2007/8 season and one of those was against non-League Gainsborough.

Budtz initially came to this country and joined Doncaster Rovers from Nordsjaelland. He impressed on his debut as he helped Rovers progress on penalties against Manchester City in the Carling Cup after he came on as a substitute in extra time, saving every spot kick that the men from Eastlands had. He quickly became Doncaster's number one goalkeeper but he then found himself out of the team towards the end of the season.

A loan spell at Wolves lasted just 4 matches and he joined Hartlepool last summer.

In 72 appearances in English football, he had conceded 89 goals. His 44 goals conceded last season hardly impressed the Hartlepool United fans, many of whom haven't exactly come up with a displeased reaction to the new that Budtz could be about to leave.

It is as yet unclear if Budtz is to be Alan Marriott's replacement, but he now appears to be one of the favourites to be brought into the club. Other names in the frame are Stuart Nelson, Andy Warrington and Ben Williams.
