City out at first stage.......again!

A strong City side continued the club's less-than-proud recent history in cup competitions. The Imps went out at the first attempt in a cup competition yet again as the Mariners defeated the Imps to reach the final of the Lincolnshire Senior Cup. 83 fans made the trip up to Blundell Park for the game.

A Peter Bore goal after 30 minutes was enough to defeat the Imps at Blundell Park. The goal followed a mistake from Giddings as his backpass failed to reach Duffy.

It is yet another fine example of the Imps being a bit rubbish when it comes to cup competitions. Other than a win in the Lincolnshire Senior Cup final a year ago, the Imps have failed to get past the first hurdle in a cup competition since the League Cup in 2005/6.

City's side included Ayden Duffy, Marvin Hamilton, Lee Beevers, Danny Hone, Stuart Giddings, Shane Clarke, Lee Frecklington, Martin Pembleton, Owain Warlow, David Graham and Kevin Gall also making his first appearance for the Imps. Gary King and LJL also featured in the game.

From the team which played, i think only freck might make the starting 11 in rotherham.

No Birch, sinclair, janos, kerr, oakes, n'guessan, wright.

King, gall, graham playing up with wrighty.

Nothing to worry about us losing, as it will not reasemble the team which which use to play them in a few weeks time.

Nope, it's basically just a cup for the reserves/youth teams. No-one takes it seriously at all.

It must of been a long summer for you Nathan, i bet your fingers have been twitching to write some negative reports.With Jacko at the helm these should become less and less but we will see?

I agree, its just a game for the youth team/reserves. it isnt important... lets wait for the season to start then hammer them home & away !!!!!!!!!

What i find funny is their fans still think they played well against us ,so their season should be ok after crashing to Scunny 4-0.

I went to the cods match and thought that they probably deserved to win but we had to give them the goal. However they played a very strong side comprising a majority of their first team and we fielded basically our second eleven.
I am certain that our strongest team would have played them off the park. They are going to get one hell of a shock when they do play us at full strength!
