Jackson extends contract at Sincil Bank

Despite having a record of losing more games than he's won as City manager, Peter Jackson has signed a new two year contract with the club. After several months of stalling and subsequent rumours, Jackson ended speculation that he was hoping to leave Sincil Bank by finally signing the deal.
Several months ago Peter Jackson revealed he would only sign a new contract if he believed that the club's results improved. An uncharacteristically good run in October saw him close to signing, only for City to then be beaten by a god-awful Port Vale side. That defeat is included in a run of just three wins in fifteen games.
However, he has now penned the deal after Tuesday night's victory over Gillingham at the Priestfield and will now remain at Sincil Bank unitl 2011.

I remain to be convinced .......
Fact is, he has the 'panache' to attract a supposed better class of player here (i.e. from a higher division) that wouldn't have given us a second thought previously! Trouble is, he is having big trouble bringing the best out of these players on a consistent basis or gelling them with our youngsters!
The squad is however, stronger than it has been for years ..... but I just worry that unless relative success isn't achieved soon (i.e. play-offs minimum) we are going to slip back into the financial mire, as the wage bill must be considerable?
Steff has backed him, so its time to deliver!

There is a lot to prove and it can only be done now with wins.
The support and good will are still there, but the Bandwagon really needs to start rolling, before it is too late for the season.
We shouldn't underestimate the challenge that is left to us. If you take our opponents games in hand as 3 points, then there are 19 games left to pick up at least,
8 points on 4 clubs (D&R, Shrewsbury,Gillingham,Bury)
7 points on Bradford
5 points on Exeter
4 points on Aldershot
2 points on Chesterfield
If we fail on even one of those targets then we need to pick up 10 points more than Rochdale.
If we fail on two, then we will also need to pick up 12 points more than Darlington.
That is just to guarantee that we finish one point above the points score of the team in 7th. Our goal difference is not good enough (3 vs. -6,2,3,4,11,12,12,18,19,22) for us to scrape through on level points.
6 points from the next two games are a must; but if Exeter win one game we will still only be 11th and are likely to be at least 5 points away from a playoff place at best.
Jacko's contract is another piece of the Jigsaw, but if we do not start putting them together soon then Mum is going to want the the table to put Tea out and all the pieces will have to go back into the box until next season.

Brilliant news. He's the best man for the job.
There is definite progress being made, we've got a much stronger squad then we've had for several seasons, this season is still very much open, even if we don't reach the play offs we've made noticable progress, the young lads have had another years experience. We're building something decent here and patience is hugely important, give Jacko the time and I'm convinced he'll get us up by the end of his new contract.
I know there was a big build up at the start of the season. mainly from Jackson, but there were reasons, season tickets to sell, potential signings to impress and generally trying create an optimistic atmosphere. We all loved it. If we were down were we were last year then I'd be asking questions but we're in an acceptable position and looking strong for the future.

I love Jacko.... just watched his interview on OS & feel positive about the next two years... I will be applauding him as he walks onto the pitch this afternoon..UP THE IMPS!!
