A point does neither side any good

A point helped neither side as it now leaves City with a minor moutain to climb to make the Playoffs, whereas it leaves Luton Town just one game away from relegation, it wasn't even an exciting encounter either. City didn't play a single goal-capable striker all game, whereas Luton wasted one or two golden chances to win, but neither side really deserved to win.

The Imps were the first to create a chance after Scott Kerr ran past several players, only to see Ben Wright fail to get to his decent pass, allowing Brill to gather the ball. Kerr was again at the heart of a move when he and O'Connor played in Brown, the midfielder was unable to recover the ball though before it went out of play.

Time was passing slowly due to the lack of many chances as Livermore was booked for a foul on O'Connor just seconds before Pilkington headed just over the net. Lewis Emanuel, a former target of City, was then forced to leave the game after injuring himself in the build up to a corner, he was taken off on a stretcher and replaced by Spillane.

Burch punched a Luton corner clear before Scott Kerr hit the side netting from 30 yards following a ball from Horsfield. Chris Martin sent a low shot wide but despite that only being the thirty-third minute, only one more chance would come in the first half as Beevers had a header cleared off of the line in the middle of added on time.

O'Connor picked up a yellow at the beginning of the second half after badly fouling Chris Martin, Pilkington headed against the crossbar from the resulting free kick. Kovacs headed wide from a freekick gained when Asafu-Adjaye had fouled N'Guessan.

Horsfield sent a volley well wide of the target before Claude Knapka came on for Gallen just a few days after scoring the winning goal in the JP Trophy final. City were quick to make a substitution after the ineffective and quite frankly awful Ben Wright was replaced by Andy Hutchinson, a 17 year old making his debut for City.

Hutchinson was straight into the action and won a corner, Kovacs heading that wide. Mullarkey came on for Brown and subsequently constantly gave the ball away....as per usual. O'Connor's shot was deflected into the arms of Brill before Rob Burch was sent up for two free kicks, neither of which came to anything. However, Luton did have the best chance of the game as they broke through the City defence, only for Burch to save the shot and force it wide to end the game.
