Who deserves a new contract?

With seven players who have been regulars at some point during the season out of contract, we now look at who deserves a new contract. Lee Beevers, Sam Mullarkey, Geoff Horsfield, Dany N'Guessan, Adrian Patulea, Frank Sinclair and Ben Wright are those in question.
Sam Mullarkey, just plain and simply NOT. 19 games, 1 goal and just 7 shots.....for a striker. I'm sorry but that is simply not good enough. He was rubbish whilst playing in the Unibond Leagues for Lincoln United, so why did people suddenly think he was going to be any good for Lincoln City?
People will say that he did a lot by winning a penalty against Grimsby, but anyone can be fouled from behind, it doesn't take a genius. Plus, even if he did do that, combine that with his goal and just two decent things in nineteen games simply isn't worthy of League Football.
He quite simply hasn't done enough to warrant a new contract
VERDICT - NOT WORTHY OF A NEW CONTRACT
I feel almost sorry for Geoff but he should never have come back into League Football. His mind is certainly willing but his body just plain and simply isn't up for it.
Much like Mullarkey, he hasn't produce a lot of shots this season, attempting a shot on just sixteen occasions in his seventeen appearances for the first team.....it was a good goal though.
May with a full pre-season behind him then he might have been capable of being a great player for the Imps, but I don't really want to waste more high wages on an off-chance that he will perform next season, especially as there are far more worthy strikers in the squad.
VERDICT - NOT WORTHY OF A NEW CONTRACT
I was prepared to give Ben Wright the benefit of the doubt before the game against Aldershot. I thought he simply had just had a bad year but could possibly be given a new six month contract to prove himself next season. Then he proceded to waste numerous chances that any other striker would have easily put away.
With 38 appearances to his name this season, just scoring thrice really isn't good enough, especially considering he has 26 shots. This season proved that Ben Wright only scored 15 last season due to Jamie Forrester's contributions.
I'd be surprised if Ben Wright was still here next season to be honest. He has been given far more chances than he has really deserved and in all honesty, never looked like scoring. If his disallowed goal in the home game against Dagenham had been allowed then it might have been different, but we'll never know.
VERDICT - NOT WORTHY OF A NEW CONTRACT
The fan's reaction to Adrian Patulea finishing second in the Player of the Season says it all about the Romanian's affinity with the fans. His performances are always full blooded and he was the only striker who ever looked like scoring.
11 goals from 41 shots in his 34 games for the Imps made him the only player to hit double figures. It's just a pity that Peter Jackson treated him like a second-class citizen and it wouldn't surprise many if it was due to the FACT that Patulea is more popular than Jackson amongst fans.
I'd love to see Adrian get a new contract but if the rumours are true, Jackson is only offering stupidly low money of around £600 per week, with teams such as Kettering Town rumoured to offer him £700. He says he loves the club and that could be the turning point.
VERDICT - DEFINITELY WORTHY BUT SEEMS UNLIKELY TO BE HERE NEXT YEAR
Frank "the scapegoat" Sinclair was slated by fans for most goals that we conceded, even though the vast majority weren't his fault and when he left, he was our most inform defender.
With Jackson already admitting that he's unlikely to give Frank another contract, it seems as though Frank's days at Sincil Bank.
VERDICT - DEBATEABLY WORTHY BUT WON'T GET ONE
Lee Beevers was the most over-rated player this season. He played in defence and just because he made little mazy runs forward for three or four games, everyone suddenly thought he was brilliant. However, he was far from brilliant. Brilliant players can pass to their own players.
Beevers has been playing for months like he doesn't give a crap and it wouldn't surprise me at all if he has already agreed to join another club, even if he did then I personally don't believe he'd be worthy of a new contract.
VERDICT - NOT WORTHY
Speaking of players who haven't looked like they've given a crap for a while, enter Dany N'Guessan. It's the worst kept secret at Sincil Bank that Dany will be leaving at the end of the season. With many suitors after his signature from the Championship, there's more chance of Sam Mullarkey deserving a new contract than Dany staying.
He finally started showing his potential as he was our best player between Christmas and March, scoring numerous goals, but then his characteristic lazy attitude came back and he rarely influenced a match.
Although we would like to wish Dany a long and good career away from Sincil Bank, he certainly won't be remembered for being consistent.
VERDICT - DESERVING BUT LEAVING
