Jackson springs a surprise

Peter Jackson has shocked Imps fans by offering a new contract to Sam Mullarkey, a striker who only averages a shot once every two games. Other than that there were few surprises in the released list that is believed to have freed up nearly £5,000 per week worth of wages.

Mullarkey joined from Grantham Town in the summer and in his 15 appearances for the club, scored just one and only had seven shots. However, Jackson's ambition has clearly been shown by offering this flop a brand new contract.

He is one of just three players to be offered new contracts, the others being fan favourite Adrian Patulea, and the almost inevitably departing Dany N'Guessan. Patulea has reportedly been offered £700 per week, more than the rumoured Imps offer of £600, so hopefully this new offer will actually be worth what Patulea actually means to this club.

Amongst those released have been Ben Wright and Geoff Horsfield. Ben Wright was believed to going to be offered a new contract before Saturday's game against Aldershot. His performance in that game though changed Jackson's mind and now Wright could potentially return to Barnet , for whom he had a trial  before being plucked to City by John's Deehan and Schofield.

The other players released are Frank Sinclair, Ayden Duffy, Owain Warlow, Martin Pembleton and Gary King.
