Gillingham progress to face Shrewsbury

Two sides who failed to beat City over the season will fight it out for a place in League One after Gillingham beat Rochdale 2-1 to secure a trip to Wembley to face Shrewsbury Town. Simeon Jackson proved the inspiration again the Gills as he condemned Rochdale to yet another year in League Two.

Gillingham and Rochdale were two sides who were around the top of the division near enough all season, although both had difficult spells at various points of the season and Rochdale's came in recent weeks, making this result a little bit unsurprising.

Simeon Jackson gave Gillingham the lead before Dagnall equalised. However, it was to be Gillingham's day as Jackson again scored to send the Gills through to the Playoff Final, 10 years after a heartbreaking loss to Manchester City in the League One final.

They face Shrewsbury, a team that destroyed Gillingham 7-0 earlier on in the season. Shrewsbury themselves will aim to gain promotion just two years after dominating the Final against Bristol Rovers, only to failt o win promotion at all..
