Imps aim to avoid a double

City will be aiming to keep a side from getting the double over them this season. Only 5 teams could do it in this half of the season and 2 have already failed but City's record against Torquay recently is woeful so it will be an incredibly tough game against the sea-siders
The Imps are still 6th in the table after a 0-0 draw on Tuesday night with Cheltenham which to be honest, was one of the worst games of football I have ever seen. Now we face a team that we haven't beat in a long time, Torquay United. People will definatly remember the last time we played Torquay at home. Despite dominating all the attacking play, City found themselves 1-0 down after 30 minutes thanks to an communcations error between Marriott and Morgan. Gritton snook in and couldn't miss the open goal from less than a yard out. But in the 86th minute, Yeo hit the ball against Ruben Hazel's shoulder to send City into the playoffs.
Torquay had only been ruled out the playoffs a week before after a 3-2 home defeat by Carlisle and find themselves in a similar position this season. They are only a few places outside the playoffs but a recent run of 6 hours without a goal saw them plummet from a high playoff place to bottom of the top half of the table.
City were the first team to travel to Torquay this season and to be quite honest, it was a very poor performance from the Imps but were unlucky to lose after Torquay scored in the 89th minute to give them the 3 points.
Torquay won all 3 games in November but hadn't won since then until last Saturday when last Saturday's 3-1 victory over Northampton saw them end their goal drought. A drought that City seem to have caught. City have now failed to score in 5 halves of football. OUr last goal was Francis Green's goal in the first half against Bury.
City's recent record against Torquay has been poor and their last victory over the Gulls was 12th Feb 2000 when City beat them 2-1 at Sincil Bank. Since then, Torquay have won 3 with the other 4 being draws.
Richard Butcher is definatly out for the Imps after re-straining his thigh during the week.
LAST 5 RESULTS AGAINST Torquay
GULLS 1 CITY 0
CITY 1 GULLS 1
GULLS 0 CITY 0
GULLS 2 CITY 0
CITY 0 CITY 0
PREDICTIONS
If this game is anything like Tuesday night's game then it will be yet another 0-0 draw. I don't think we'll beat Torquay but gain a score draw, 1-1.
