Imps tame Tigers

The Imps gained revenge for the 3-0 defeat by Hull earlier in the season with 2 late goals giving the Imps a 2-0 victory in a very end to end game.
The Imps had the ball in the net early in the 1st half when Paul Mayo's throw in went into the net but the linesman ruled it had not hit any City players and as we know, you can't score direct from a throw in.
Hull had the next oppurtunity only a few minutes before half time when he barged through the City defence but his shot smacked against the cross bar.
The 2nd half was dominated by Hull who were unlucky not to score on numerous occassions, the most guilty player was Ben Burgess who missed from less than 6 yards when his shot sailed over the bar.
The Imps however, took the lead after a Gary Fletcher throw in. The ball jostled around the area for a while before Peter Gain volleyed in his 3rd goal in 4 games.
Stuart Elliott then wasted another chance for Hulal although credit must go to Marriott for making an excellent point blank save.
It was soon 2-0 when good work from Gain, saw him pass to Liburd who crossed past the keeper for Paul Mayo to tap in his 8th of the season, not bad for a defender.
