Lincoln's Gary Taylor-Fletcher has said he is confident of City being promoted even though he might not be here for it. Speaking to the Lincolnshire Echo, GTF believes that City have the right combination to get promoted, however, rumours have been circulating that the striker is set to leave.
Lincoln signed GTF from Leyton Orient at the start of last season and finished as the club's top scorer. This season has seen him struggle a bit despite getting 8 goals, however, only 2 of those have come since August, against Yeovil and Oxford. However, speaking to the Lincolnshire Echo he believes the partnerships with Green and Yeo could prove vital for City's promotion bid.
"It does seem to work well when we play together, we are quick and nippy, which gives the opposition problems with the runs we make. It's nice at times having that big man up front, but I would rather play the middle role because then I can drop off and get the ball. I'm also not the worst in the air so I can get the flicks."
"It gives Franny and Yeo more freedom to make runs across instead of just staying either left or right. Yeo is on 15 now, I'm concentrating on getting into double figures again and Franny is also aiming for that."
GTF knows that now City have a great chance to gain automatic promotion and only Scunthorpe has lost fewer games than City this season and the Imps currently lay 6th, a win on Saturday against Rochdale could see City move to forth. Also, City are now only 8 points off top spot despite spending near enough the whole of August around the relegation zone.
"The teams at the top will be starting to look over their shoulders. We've always been a strong side in the second half of the season. At the moment I don't think it matters whether we're home or away, we're confident of getting a result."
"If we keep playing like this I think we will be pushing for automatic promotion. None of the lads want the play-offs if we can help it.
"We're certainly gunning for the top three and the belief is there that we can do it. Reaching the play-offs would be amazing for the club financially, but I can say 100 per cent the players want an automatic spot."
However, there is increasing speculation that GTF could soon be heading out of Sincil Bank and heading for Huddersfield's Galpharm Stadium. Peter Jackson is looking for another striker to link up with Andy Booth, Luke Beckett and John McAliskey and has reportedly been to Sincil Bank on 3 occasions in the past 3 months to watch GTF play.
