Beevers completes cross-county move.

Boston United defender has joined Lincoln City after agreeing personal terms. The former Ipswich defender is more than likely going to go straight into the squad for tomorrow's trip to Leyton Orient.

Speaking to the Lincolnshire Echo, Imps manager Keith Alexander confirmed a deal had been struck.

"We agreed a fee with Boston for him and I met the lad and his agent today," said Alexander. "One or two other clubs were in for him and I know one of them made a higher bid than we did. But he has decided to come to a team that has a chance of going up. If he had wanted more money, he would have gone elsewhere - it's as simple as that."

Beevers becomes the 3rd player to switch between the two clubs this season after Dean West and Martin Carruthurs swapped earlier this season.

Beevers agent believes the move is a good one for the defender who had impressed at York Street after completeing a move from Ipswich just a few years ago.

"There was interest from three or four other clubs, and Boston rejected a bid for Lee from Northampton a couple of weeks ago, so he is a player who is very much in demand," said Baker. Lee was happy enough at York Street, but Lincoln is a good move for him. The two clubs have agreed on the fee and I can't see personal terms being a problem. Lee is a very good player, he's very versatile and I'm certain he can play at a higher level. However, he's only 21 and I think he needs more first team football under his belt before he can make the move up to Championship level. Lincoln have reached the play-offs for the past two seasons and are right up there again now, so it's a positive move for Lee."

However, it's not all sunny news as Beevers is believed to be a replacement for the soon to be departing Futcher and possibly McAuley, who still has rumours of a move to Sunderland hanging over him. City's squad has suffered a lack of depth in recent week and this is shown by the fact Keith has been "forced" to include YTS players Lee Frecklington and Jack Hobbs in his recent squads.
