The Imps look set to sign striker Derek Asamoah from local rivals Mansfield Town. The striker has been on the transfer list for just under a week now thanks to a bust up with manager Carlton Palmer.
Asamoah is only 23 and has scored 18 goals in his career so far, most of those coming for Northampton last season and Keith is keen to add the striker to the squad for tomorrow's visit of Wycombe.
Keith however is playing it down (as usual) saying to the Echo that he is after another striker as well and doesn't know which he'll pick.
"I've been trying to bring someone in for a few weeks, but at this stage of the season it's difficult because most teams have plenty to play for and want their squads as strong as possible. Martin Carruthers has come back from his loan spell at Cambridge. He did very well down there and can put pressure on the players in the team. However, I would still like to bring another body in because we have a lot of important matches coming up. It's just a question of waiting for the phone to ring and hopefully being able to sort something out."
One stumbling block however could be that the Stags want a fee for the Ghana-born striker. We will bring you more news as it comes.
