Keith Alexander has played down rumours linking him with a move for Mansfield's Derek Asamoah. Speaking after Saturday's defeat to Wycombe, the Imps manager stated although he enquired about the striker, it didn't go any furthur than any enquiry.
Asamoah was placed on the transfer list last week and was subject to links with moves back to old club Northampton, Boston United and Lincoln with City believed to be the favourites to sign him, however Keith Alexander was quick to deny that the striker was signing.
Alexander admitted to making an enquiry a few weeks ago when Asamoah wasn't in the starting line up for Mansfield but the Stags wanted a fee and Asamoah's wage demands were quite steep. Alexander has also revealed however he is currently in negotiations with another striker to partner Yeo after GTF has only scored once since the home win over Yeovil in November and Green hasn't scored since the away game at Cambridge in October. Green could however be subject to transfer rumours himself. After being substituted on Saturday he immediatly headed down the tunnel and was apparantly seen spitting on the shirt. We will bring you more on this as we get it.
