Cornelly's disappointing return

Chris Cornelly returned to action after 18 months out in a reserve fixture against his home town club, Huddersfield Town. However, the result went the way of the visitors thanks to a Junior Mendes strike. The game also saw the returns from injury of Ben Futcher and Nathan Peat.

The winning goal came in the 68th minute thanks to a Junior Mendes lob over Simon Raynor from just inside the box. Huddersfield probably would have been disappointed they didn't get more given that 8 of the 11 starters for them played against Lincoln in the play semi finals last season although the 8 of the Lincoln starting 11 have featured in the first team at some point during the season.

Cornelly himself had an average game creating a few chances whilst failing to get onto some provided for him but most importantly of all, he came through the game without a reaction to his injury and was taken off after 72 minutes. However, it will be sometime before he is match fit to be considered for the first team squad.
