Imps striker Simon Yeo is struggling to be fit for Friday's clash with Rushden and Diamonds after being injured against Shrewsbury Town last Saturday. However, the 21 goal striker admitted that he was more optimistic than when the injury first arose.

Yeo, who has been vital in recent weeks to City's promotion campaign has scored 12 in the last 12 games to bring his season's tally up to 21, 11 more than his nearest challeneger, Gary Taylor-Fletcher. Infact, Yeo has only failed to score in 4 of the games this calender year.

"I went in for a challenge with a Shrewsbury player and as he came down he stood all over my knee," Yeo told the Echo, "I didn't need hospital treatment, but I packed it with ice all weekend which seems to have done the trick. It's still sore but I can walk on it. I won't be able to do much on it this week and as for Friday's game I would say I'm touch and go at this stage. It's not as bad as I first thought and I'm certainly not ruling myself out of contention for the match. I desperately want to play because I'm having a great run at present and I want it to continue."
