Scunny set to fail to fill again

Scunthorpe United have only sold just over half of their allocation for Monday night's game. They have just over 1000 of their initial 2300 allocation to sell and it is set to be the 3rd season in a row that they have failed to bring decent numbers to Sincil Bank.
The Scunthorpe Telegraph reports that the Iron still have over 1000 tickets to sell for Monday night's live Sky Sports game against the Imps and if they fail to sell a lot of those, it would be the 3rd time in as many season that they have failed to pass the 1,300 mark.
In 2001/2, the Iron brought an impressive 2470 fans to Sincil Bank but they failed to see their team win as the Imps came out 3-2 winners in one of the best games to be seen at Sincil Bank with goals from David Cameron, Peter Gain and Lee Thorpe giving the Imps a deserved victory.
In 2002/3, the Iron came us twice, the first was at the beginning of the season, they had started the season averagely and brought 1,011 fans to Sincil Bank, yet again they went home disappointed after a 34th minute goal saw the Imps come out as 1-0 winners. However, in the playoff semi finals they unsuprisingly filled the away end to it 1900 capacity and it turned out to arguably, be the best game ever seen at Sincil Bank. Simon Weaver and Paul Mayo gave City an early 2-0 lead before Alex Calvo-Garcia pulled one back for the Iron. Paul Smith restored the Imps two goal advance before two goals in just over a minute from Alex Calvo-Garcia and Nathan Stanton pulled the Iron level. However, the Iron would leave with their 3rd defeat in a row at Sincil Bank after a late brace from Simon Yeo saw the game end 5-3 and the game go down in history.
Last season, yet another poor showing, this time a laughable 901 came down the 35 mile stretch of road. Scunny can take the piss out of our followings to them but 901????? We were taking more to them when we were near the bottom of the league. They did however leave with a point after a complete freak of a goal saw Cleveland Taylor equalise from Peter Gain's opener.
