McAuley to get another chance

Imps' defender Gareth McAuley has been called up for international duty for Northern Ireland against Austria and Wales. If selected, this will be the tall defender's 2nd international appearance for his county. His first came against Germany when he came off the bench.

The call up, for the matches starting next week, means that McAuley will now miss the Imps' home game against Cheltenham next Friday night. Gareth will more than likely start on the bench for both games, just like he did against Germany. He could possibly have been on the bench for the game against England but injury ruled that possibility out.

When McAuley was capped for his county, he became the first international player at Sincil Bank since Allan Pearce's run outs for New Zealand a few years ago.
