Imps set to sign Elding?

Following mixed reports, Anthony Elding appears set to join the Imps after reportedly leaving Stevenage Borough. Rumours are rife around the internet that Elding and Borough have parted company and the striker is in contact with Keith Alexander about a possible move to Sincil Bank

This is the second time Elding has been linked to the Imps' this season after there was a bit of controversy in pre-season when Stevenage claimed City had made an illegal approach for Elding, something that both City and Elding have denied. However, during this week, Elding rejected the offer of a new contract with Stevenage and there have been strong rumours that he has left the conference side. He was spotted at the Burton Albion vs Altrincham game and told a few Burton fans at that game that he was heading to Sincil Bank on Monday to discuss terms. This is also backed up by a Boston fan, who is close friends with Elding, recieving a text message from the hotshot striker, stating that he was about to sign for the Imps.

However, the only problem with the situation being that if he has indeed left and is set to sign for us, it can only possibly be a loan move due to Stevenage still holding the registration for Elding. The transfer would then become permanent in the January transfer window.

The row between the two started when Elding was called up the Semi-Professional England side a few weeks ago, however, Stevenage manager, Grahm Westley withdrew him from the side and Elding was far from happy with the situation.

"It's like losing a family member and that's happened to me," Elding said. "I'm absolutely gutted. I wrote Graham a letter asking if he could get me back in but he said he stood by his decision.

"I'm finding it very difficult to take. I'd rather be fined that withdrawn from the squad. Apart from my daughter, representing my country is as important as it gets for me."
