Midweek results go City's way

City's point against Macclesfield has proved to be a valuable one as now City are 5 points above the drop zone in 18th. Although the Imps haven't moved up any places, that extra gap gives City a bit of breathing space which we may very well need during a very difficult december, starting on Saturday
Only Shrewsbury and Bristol Rovers were the winners from the teams below the Imps going into tonight's games. Shrewsbury convincingly beat Darlington whereas Bristol Rovers enjoyed a win at Stockport, who find themselves in the relegation zone, just 2 points above Torquay, who enjoyed an enthralling game against Northampton. Chester City, who face the Imps on Saturday, face a fine after getting 7 players booked in their 1-0 victory away at Leyton Orient. In the 2nd of their 4 meetings in quick succession, Oxford beat Cheltenham thanks to Sabin's 40th minute strike. Grimsby battered Rochdale, Wycombe claimed a point after going behind to a Francis Green goal for Boston. Wrexham came from behind to thump Mansfield and Peterborough beat free-falling Notts County and Carlisle battered Rushden.
