Imps trial Scunny striker

Lincoln have handed a week long trial to Michael Rankine, a teenage striker from local rivals Scunthorpe United. The striker is out of contract at the end of December and Keith has brought him to the club to run the rule over the striker who hasn't played in Scunny's first team since April

The striker has apparantly been one of Keith's targets for a while and with his contract due to expire soon, Scunny manager, Brian Laws has decided to let the Imps have a look at him for a week. If Rankine does enough to impress Alexander, he would become the first Scunthorpe player since Jamie McCombe to sign for the Imps from Glanford Park.

Rather unsurprisingly for a Keith Alexander transfer target, he has a distinct lack of goals, scoring just 1 goal in 21 games for the Iron, although he only started 1 of those matches after signing from Barrow, who he rejoined on loan earlier this season, scoring 3 goals in 10 appearances. He won't get a trial match to prove himself as the Imps' next reserve fixture is in January.
