Due to their being 2 many B's this section covers the remaining of the Bs and included, is a record appearance holder in the form of Grant Brown. There are also some familiar recent names such as Nat Brown, Richard Butcher and Shayne Bradley, ok, maybe not Bradley but you get the idea.

Bradley, Brendan – Played 33 times for City in the 1972/73 season.

 

Bradley, Shayne – Mansfield once paid £150,000 for this injury prone lump. City loaned him from Chesterfield in the 2002/3 season and he played 3 times for the Imps, scoring once. Keith Alexander cut his loan spell short when Bradley said that he didn’t want to play but his foot felt funny just before the Imps played Bristol Rovers at Sincil Bank. Bradley soon retired in his mid 20’s after a career that saw him play at Southampton, Swindon and Exeter.

 

Branfoot, Ian – Ian failed to make the “200 club” by just 11 appearances for the club but still become a very popular player with the fans between 1973 and 1978. He also played for Sheffield Wednesday and Donny.

 

Branston, Guy – Here’s a rarity, a loanee who plays more than 5 games for City. Guy played 6 times for the Imps in the 1999/2000 season, he also played for Colchester (twice), Plymouth and Rotherham.

 

Branston, Terry – A regular in the first team, amassing 108 appearances between 1970 and 1973. Also played for Northampton and Luton

 

Brazier, Colin – An unsuccessful time at City saw him play just 10 times in the 1982/3 season. He also played for midlands trio, Wolves, Birmingham and Walsall.

 

Brentford – City vs Brentford is often not a fixture for the faint hardest as in the 43 games between the clubs, a massive 82 players were injured. City just edged out Brentford by winning 18 compared to Brentford’s 17.

 

Bressington, Graham – The defender played 174 times for City between 1987 and 1993 before moving to Southend United.

 

Brightwell, David – Another journeyman joined the Imps on loan in the 1995/6 season from Man City and played 7 times for the Imps. He also played for Chesterfield, Stockport, Bradford, Blackburn, Norwich, Hull and Darlington.

  

Broadbent, Albert – Played 45 times for the Imps between 1961 and 1963. He also played for Notts County, Sheffield Wednesday, Rotherham, Donny (twice) and Bradford Park Avenue.

 

Brook, Harold – Made 4 unremarkable appearances for City in the 1957/8 season.

 

Brooks, Tom – The second choice keeper between 1964 and 1970, despite this, he still make 109.

 

Brown, Grant – A true legend at the club, playing a huge 462 games for the Imps and is City record appearance holder. He joined the Imps in 1989 from Leicester City and played until 2002 when he was released as part of the money saving tactics. He played for Telford and Alfreton before rejoining the Imps in 2005 as the youth team manager.

 

Brown, Mick – Played 43 times in the 1967/8 season before joining Hull.

 

Brown, Nat – Defensive midfielder who joined the Imps from Huddersfield Town in 2005. The clumsy player made up for his constant losing of the ball by scoring some pretty memorable goals, including a 35 yarder against Macclesfield Town.

 

Brown, Phil J – The former Chesterfield and Stockport player made 91 appearances for the club between 1987 and 1990.

 

Brown, Simon – Poor Simon, City loaned him from Spurs for a goalkeeping crisis in the 1997/8 season and his first game was a local derby at Peterborough, City had gone 17 games unbeaten and despite taking a lead, Simon would find himself conceding 5 goals in his first ever football league game as the Imps lost 5-1. He was sent straight back but got regular first team football at Colchester.

 

Brown, Steve – Hard working midfielder who played 83 times for the Imps between 1995 and 1998. He also played for Southend, Scunny, Colchester, Gillingham and Macclesfield.

 

Brown, Tom – Made 3 appearances in the 1957/9 season.

 

Buckley, Adam – Many thought (and were probably right) that Adam Buckley only got in the squad because of his dad being the manager and unfortunatly, Adam only played well in his final few games for the club and despite playing 41 games for the club, he was voted as the worst player in the club’s history and left Sincil Bank in 2002 after being found guilty of stealing from other players.

 

Buckley, Steve – Played 72 times between 1986 and 1988 before playing for Luton and Derby.

 

Buckley, Walter – A first team regular in the 1931/2 championship winning side.

 

Buick, Joe – Played just 33 games in 7 years at Sincil Bank between 1955 and 1962.

 

Bullock, Tony – Bullock was brought in as cover for Alan Marriott when Chris Day’s loan spell expired in the 2000/1 season. Bullock played 1 match for the Imps but never had a chance of regular first team football. He also played for Barnsley and Macclesfield before coming to Sincil Bank.

 

Burden, Brian – 1 game wonder in 1960/1

 

Burke, Marshall – Joined City in 1982 and played 59 games before leaving in 1984.

 

Burke, Steve – A loanee who played 6 games in the 1985/6 season. Also played for Forest, Donny and QPR.

 

Burnett, Alf – Alf played 4 times for City in the 1949/50 season and later played for Barrow.

 

Burridge, John – Despite only playing 4 games for the Imps, John had a highly successful career and played for more than 15 clubs in his career.

 

Burrows, David – Another 1 game wonder, this time in the 1978/9 season.

 

Butcher, Richard – Butcher joined the Imps in late 2002 and become an integral part in the Imps midfield. He scored arguably the best goal ever scored by an Imp when he scored from near 40 yards against Mansfield. However, injury hampered him in the 2003/4 season and he was never the same player. He left Sincil Bank in 2005 to go to Oldham, however, he would return in October 2005 on a loan deal. Butcher played 126 for the Imps.

 

Butler, Lee – He was a first team regular in the 1986/7 season, playing 32 games but didn’t do enough to earn a contract to help the Imps return from the conference. Also played for Villa, Hull, Barnsley, Scunny, Wigan and Halifax.
