Mackin, Jon – The former Northampton, York and Darlington man made 4 appearances for the Imps in the 1969/70 season.

Mair, Gordon – Made 64 appearances for City between 1984 and 1986.

Mansley, Allan – Played for Brentford, Fulham and Notts County with 3 appearances for the Imps in the 1971/2 season squeezed in between.

Mardenborough, Steve – The journeyman made 26 appearances for City in the 1993/4 season. He also played for Wolves, Swansea, Cardiff, Hereford, Darlington and Colchester.

Marlow, Geoff – One of the few players in football to go to war in his career and come back to play for the same club. Marlow joined the Imps in 1937 and after leaving for the war, returned in 1945 before retiring in 1948. He played a total of 88 times for the Imps.

Marriott, Alan – The goalkeeper joined City from Spurs in 1999 and despite not making an immediate impact, he went on to become one of the most respected and consistent goalkeepers in the lower leagues. Viewed by many as the best goalkeeper that the Imps have ever had and he has made well over 250 appearances for the club.

Martin, Ben – Ben came on loan to the Imps during the 2003/4 season from Swindon and the 6 ft 8 defender didn’t come off the bench for a single minute.

Martin, Jae- Injury plagued his time at City but despite a lengthy lay off, he still managed 48 appearances for the club between 1996 and 1998. He also played for Southend, Orient, Birmingham and Peterborough.

Matthews, Barry – Played twice for City in the 1949/50 season.

Matthews, Neil – Another journeyman who made an impressive 96 appearances for City between 1992 and 1995. He also played for Grimsby, Scunthorpe, had 2 spells at Halifax, Bolton and Bury.

Matthewson, Trevor – Joined the Imps in 1987 and played 99 games before leaving in 1989. He also played for Sheffield Wednesday, Newport, Stockport, Brimingham and Preston.

May, Rory – The former Coventry trainee was one of the worst excuses for a footballer you’ll ever seen and 7 appearances in the 2003/4 season were 7 appearances too many for a player who would struggle in a pub team.

Mayo, Paul – Another product of the youth system and a player who has had 2 spells with the club. During his first spell at the club, he was scouted by Spurs after making his first appearance in 2000. He left in 2004 to go to Watford but returned to Sincil Bank little over a year later.

McAuley, Gareth – The tall defender joined the Imps in 2004 from Coleraine and went on to become a really consistent player and that consistency earned him a call up to the Northern Irish international side and he made his debut for his country against Germany.

McCalliog, Jim – A journeyman with top flight experience who played 9 times for the Imps in 1978/9. He also played for Chelsea, Sheffield Wednesday, Wolves, Manchester United and Southampton.

McCarrick, Mark – Former Birmingham, Crewe and Tranmere man who joined City in 1986/7 and made 8 appearances before leaving the club in the summer.

McLaren, Steve – A loanee signing who played 8 games in the 1986/7. He also played for Hull, Derby, Bristol City and Oxford. Assistant manager at Derby and Manchester United where he won a champions league medal before managing Middlesbrough.

McClelland, Jack – The former Arsenal and Fulham man made 13 appearances for the Imps in the 1968/9 season.

McClelland, John – Made 130 appearances for the club between 1958 and 1962. He also played for Manchester City, QPR, Portsmouth and Newport.

McCombe, Jamie – A tall defender who controversially joined the Imps in 2004 from Scunthorpe United. The young defender turned out to be a fantastic purchase and it was easy to see why he had been scouted by Premiership teams and he also chips in with a few goals every now and then, has the potential to play at a much higher level.

McCormick, George – Another journeyman who joined the Imps in 1947 and made 65 appearances before departing in 1949. He also played for Rotherham, Chesterfield, Spurs, Fulham and Palace.

McCready, Tommy – A goalkeeper who made 11 appearances for the Imps in the 1950/1 season.

McDowall, Dean – The former Workington and Millwall man made 18 appearances for City in the 1953/4.

McEvoy, Don – A regular fringe player made just 23 appearances between 1958 and 1960. He also played for Huddersfield, Sheffield Wednesday and Barrow.

McGeough, Jimmy – The former Hartlepool favourite made 68 appearances for City in between 1972 and 1975.

McGinley, John – One of the few players involved in both the relegation and promotion seasons to and from the conference in the 80s. He joined in 1984 and left in 1989, making 168 appearances in the process. He also played for Sunderland, Rotherham, Hartlepool and Doncaster.

McGlen, Bill – Former Manchester United man who playd just 14 times in 1952/53.

McInally, John – Former Colchester player who made 24 appearances for City between 1970 and 1972.

McInnes, Ian – Former Rotherham defender who made 46 appearances between 1985 and 1987.

McKenzie, Aiden – 4 appearances between 1979 and 1980.

McMahon, Frank – Former Darlington and Hartlepool favourite who made 61 appearances for the imps between 1971 and 1973.

McManus, Eric - A loanee who played 21 times for the Imps in the 1979/90 season. Also played for Coventry, Notts County, Stoke, Bradford and Tranmere.

McNamara, Niall – City signed him from Belper in 2003 and could arguably be the worst player to have ever played and his 11 appearances for the club before leaving in 2005, were 11 of the most painful games you’ll ever watch.

McNeil, Bobby – He made 4 appearances for City in the 1985/6 season.

McNeil, Dixie – The journeyman made 102 appearances for City between 1971 and 1973. He had 2 spells at Hereford as well as terms at Exeter, Northampton and Wrexham.

McParland, Steve – He made 5 appearances for City in 1992/3 in a career that also saw him play at Notts County, Hull and Northampton.

McVay, David – Joined City for the 1981/2 season and made 19 appearances.
