Imps sign highly rated Trinity man

City made one of the more surprising transfer of the day when they signed Jamie Sherlock from Gainsborough Trinity. The 22 year old midfielder was highly rated at Northolme and despite Trinity having a relatively poor season, Sherlock has recieved praise from all corners of the non-league world.

The midfielder becomes City's 3rd ex Scarborough player to join this season and played in the same squad as Kerr and Cryan on the Yorkshire coast. The Hull born man has also had spells at North Ferriby United and Ossett Town before joined Gainsborough at the beginning of last season. Keith Alexander was delighted to bring him to Sincil Bank.

He told the official site "Jamie is a player I've fancied for a long while and, looking at the lack of bodies we've got at the moment, I thought that now was right to bring him in. He's a midfield player who gets up and down well, he knows where the goal is and he's a very fit lad. We're looking forward to working with him and the onus will be on him to get himself into the team and into the squad."

It is not the first time that Keith has brought in a non-league player on transfer deadline day. The previous names include Kevin George, Niall McNamara, Mark Ward and Aaron Wilford, amoungst others and Sherlock will want to be the first of them to avoid being straight back out the door at the end of the season.
