Imp moves closer to leaving permanently

Matt Bloomer's loan to Cambridge has been extended, fueling speculation he will leave for the Abbey permanently. He has highly impressed Cambridge manager, Rob Newman during his loan spell there and Bloomer's seemingly inevitable departure during the summer looms ever nearer.

Bloomer has played 7 times for the U's in his month there are is currently unbeaten at the Abbey Stadium and he has been quoted by the local newspapers as "finally enjoying his football again". Bloomer's contract is up at Sincil Bank in the summer and virtually no-one is expecting Bloomer to be offered a new contract as he is near enough at the bottom of the pile. Whilst he's been gone, instead of recalling the defender, Keith has decided to play players out of position.

Bloomer initially joined the Imps on loan from Hull towards the end of the 2001/2 season. He spent the start of the following season on loan at Telford before being released by parent-club, Hull City. He joined the Imps and quickly become a regular member of the team but found himself out of the team after last season's home game to Wycombe, a game where he gifted a hatrick on a plate to Nathan Tyson.

If Bloomer does leave, he will depart having played 104 competitive games for the Imps, scoring 4 times.
