Bloomer recieves unexpected recall

Imps defender, Matt Bloomer has been recalled to Sincil Bank from his loan at Conference side, Cambridge United. Bloomer had just extended his loan at the Abbey Stadium not too long along but with injuries mounting up in the City camp, Keith Alexander has decided to recall one of his longest servers

Whilst on loan at Cambridge, Bloomer was part of a side that was undefeated and that run helped Cambridge steer clear of a relegation battle and the former Hull and Telford man was recieving praise from all corners of the Abbey Stadium. He renewed his loan deal a few weeks ago but the clause to recall him at any time was today activated and the utility man will have one final chance to try and earn a contract for next season.

Bloomer, who joined the Imps permanently in the 2002/3 season, is now the 3rd longest serving player at the club, behind only Alan Marriott and Paul Morgan. That came after an initial loan deal in the 2001/2 season from Hull City.

Bloomer will go straight into the 16 man squad for Saturday's vital match against Bury.
