Asamoah continues goal streak to aid Imps

Chester City's on loan Imp, Derek Asamoah scored yet again to helped Mark Wright side overcome promotion chasing Wrexham. A win for the Welsh outfit would have meant that City slipped to 10th but Asamoah's 7th goal in 4 games helped the men from the Honda Motors Stadium to a 2-1 win.

After scoring just twice in more than 40 appearances for the Imps after joining from Mansfield Town in March last year and joined Chester on loan in January. He again appeared to be failing to make the grade and even appeared to have a major falling out with the hierarchy at Chester, however, he has recovered from that and even scored his first professional hatrick in a recent match at Boston.

The game was Wrexham's last game in hand over the other playoff chasers and just like the other one that they had, they have wasted the oppurtunity and with just 5 games to go and a difficult run in, many now view that the Dragons are no longer in with a realistic chance of getting to the end of season lottery.

Chester could still have a major say in the promotion shake up. They are at home to faultering Wycombe on Saturday and then face Northampton in their final away game of the season

Ben Davies got the other goal for Chester in the 2-1 win and with Asamoah almost certain to leave Sincil Bank in the summer, many would be surprised if he doesn't make the transfer to Chester permanent.
