League New Boys Ready For The Off

Final preparations are taking place at Parwich as the County League's latest recruits prepare for the start of their league campaign next Saturday (27th). Club officials and players alike are looking forward to welcoming teams to their pretty village club, set in the heart of the Derbyshire Dales, just outside Ashbourne.

Although cricket was played in the village prior to 1970, the club was reformed in 1985 as Parwich Royal British Legion Cricket Club. The club have a seven pitch square, laid in 1987, and an attractive wooden pavilion (pictured left) built with the help of grants from local supporters and funding bodies. A grant from the Lottery Sports Fund in 1996 enabled the club to install an artificial pitch.

Prior to 2002, the club played Sunday friendlies and midweek fixtures building up a fixture list of over 40 games per season. The club is a mix of promising youngsters and senior players.

The ground is located at Parsons Croft, Creamery Lane, Parwich (see village location and ground location maps above). Their first home fixture is against Sandiacre Town on May 4th, a week after their league campaign starts at Old Park.
