50-1 outsiders lead the field

Derbyshire, quoted at 50-1 by bookmakers Corals to win the County Championship, have romped into an early lead by thrashing Glamorgan at Cardiff in the opening match of their campaign. Derbyshire, ranked as no-hopers by all the leading bookmakers, romped home by 163 runs.

Dominic Cork last week slated the bookmakers saying: "Some of the odds offered on us are ridiculous. I'm not allowed to bet, but if I was, I would be betting on Derbyshire at those prices."

Cork went on: "I'm not promising we are going to win the league but I would advise anybody who likes a flutter to put their money on us for the top three at least."

Whilst these odds are no longer available, Derbyshire are still available at 50-1 to win the Norwich Union League, and with one-fifth the odds offered on a place in the top three, a bet on the county is proving to be very tempting.
