Abbey Glass Division 1

Elvaston 128-4 beat Belper Meadows 127 by 6 wickets

Belper Meadows batted first and were held to a modest score on a good pitch. Dave Halliday was their top scorer with 30. An interesting newcomer to Elvaston was Dave Watson who joins them from the disbanded Chaddesden team, and he made an immediate impact by taking 4-53. Skipper Richard Johnson helped Elvaston to a good start to their reply, scoring 32 and Trevor Hessey (41 not out) saw them home to a comfortable win

Marehay 70 beat Morton 54 by 16 runs

What a strange game! Marehay were upset when they were tumbled out for 70. The damage was done by Nigel Mallender (5-14) and James Miller (3-21). Then when Morton replied confidently to reach 45-1 the match seemed over. At that point tragedy struck Morton as they lost 9 wickets for 9 runs. Arif Mehmood took 5-17 in a stint which included 8 maidens and he was backed by John Longden who took 4-10, including 5 maidens.

Shipley Hall 218-4 drew with Selston 131-4

This was a good batting performance by Shipley, with new signing Zakir Hussain showing his worth with a fine knock of 64. Mark Starr (52) and Danny Brandrick (57 not out) backed him up. Selston were content to play out for a rather tame draw, with stubborn resistance from Paul Stovey who batted for the full 50 overs, making 51 not out. Simon Lacey was the most successful of the Shipley bowlers, taking 3-35, including a hat-trick.

Spondon 140-4 beat Nutbrook 139 by 6 wickets

Nutbrook, one of the newly promoted sides, have been steadily climbing towards the top of the League and now that they have reached Division 1 they can expect stiffer opposition. They came up against a strong Spondon side and found runs hard to get despite good knocks from Matt Sisson (45) and Chris Brough (32). For Spondon Paul Cook, returning after a long injury ,took 3-35 and Joe Kellogg 3-31. Peter Davies was soon in his stride hitting a brisk 38, and with Dean Vickers adding 40 not out to see Spondon home with something to spare.

Stainsby 86 lost to Lillington Park 213-6 by 127 runs.

If Stainsby are to climb back to the Premier League they will have to play better than this. They were completely outplayed by a strong Lullington side. David Adams made 78 and Andrew Goodwin 60 in Lullington's formidable total. For Stainsby Paul Leatherland stuck to his task, taking 3-34. Stainsby's batting crumbled to the bowling of Goodwin who completed a good match in taking 4-16, assisted by David Gough who took 3-21.

West Hallam 84 lost to Staveley Welfare 156-9 by 72 runs

This was a good day for Staveley's Peter Camm whose contribution was crucial in Staveley's big win. He scored 51and then went on to take 7-42, which included a hat-trick. Andrew Vernon added 32 and John Bullimore took 3-42. For West Hallam Danny Haddon took 3-24 and when they batted young James Chapman saved them from complete humiliation by batting through the innings for 39 not out.

Abbey Glass Division 2

Alfreton 78 lost to Rolleston 80-1 by 9 wickets

Alfreton were completely out played in this match. John Hughes put up some resistance in making 33 not out, but Rolleston's bowlers were in command, with Graham Dent taking 4-20 and Warren Cowell 3-21. Paul Allen was 30 not out as Rolleston coasted to victory.

Allestree 74-2 beat Aston on Trent 72 by 8 wickets

Aston's batting let them down despite a stubborn 30 from R D Mahmood, with Andy Nelson taking 3-14 and Dave Gifford 4-18. In Allestree's reply Chris Ruck made 30.

Brailsford 170-7 drew with Sandiacre Town 2nds 199-7

This was a good contest. Sandiacre's score offered a stiff challenge, with good knocks from Ian Hopkins (66), Jake Needham (47), and Ben Ruhrmund (45 not out). Ian Clarke took 3-53 for Brailsford. Brailsford made a bid for the win but they fell behind the clock. Andy France made 37 and young James Dakin 65, with Sandiacre's Needham taking 4-42.

Duffield 84 lost to Ockbrook 2nds 85-2 by 8 wickets

This was not Duffield's day. They had no answer to the bowling of Oliver Gough (5-28) and Tom Holmes (3-15).. The experienced Nigel Sulley (34) then steered Ockbrook to a comfortable win.

Ticknall 189-3 beat Little Eaton 62 by 127 runs

This was also a one-sided affair. Luke Harvey (61 not out) and Rob Dumelow (67) provided the backbone to Ticknall's total, and then Zac Lucas (5-15) and Mazar Qayyum (4-9) skittled Little Eaton out in 22 overs.

Derbyshire Building Society Division 3A

Ambergate 139-8 beat Derby Congs 50 by 89 runs

Philip Mason took 3-13 for Ambergate in their easy win.

Quarndon 2nds 189-6 drew with Darley Abbey 125-7

Chris Sanders scored 54 for Quarndon and bowlers Dave Hibberd took 3-17 and Paul Chapman 3-27. For Darley Abbey Phil Jepson scored 42 and Thomas Howell took 3-59.

Rolls Royce 213-6 drew with Spondon 2nds 162-3

For Royces Phil Daft scored 84 and Peter Clarke 40, with Spondon's Matt Harrison taking 3-38. In the Spondon innings Lee Tallis scored 69 not out.

Swarkestone 174-8 drew with Elvaston 2nds 164-9

A close game this. Steve Dixon made 59 and James Wilcox 48, with Elvaston's Rob Kettlewell taking 3-36 and John Mills 3-33.In the Elvaston innings Chris Ault scored 44 with Bruce Dilkes taking 4-30, and Gavin Dilkes 3-42.
