Alvaston & Boulton 97 lost to Langley Mill 225-9 by 128 runs

Langley Mill made an indifferent start and were struggling at one point on 41-5. The innings took a turn for the better when skipper Simon Lacey got into his stride with a knock of 84. Also, A & B did themselves no favours by yielding 56 extras. Their overseas signing Carl Beetge stuck to his task by taking 4-64.. Then when A & B batted they came up against Damien Collard on top form as he broke the back of the innings in taking 5-27.

Chesterfield 241-8 drew with Wirksworth 139-8

Chesterfield showed early promise last week and this was confirmed by another encouraging batting display, which contained good contributions from Dean Hopkinson (86), David Adams (64) and Brad Ediriweera (33).. For Wirksworth Adnan Naeem took 3-59, and their reply was boosted by Kevin Hunter who scored 50 and David Greatorex who made 38, but they were well short of their target at the close when they were hanging on for the draw with only two wickets left.

Clifton 177-7 drew with Denby 255-7

Denby won the toss and elected to bat first. They batted for the full 55 overs and produced a big total with good knocks from Ian Parkin (43), Mark Pykett (36), Peter Scott (36) and Stuart Poplar (32). Ant Botha had a good match for Clifton taking 7-47, but their batting faltered and they were well short at the close. Skipper Simon Moore played his part, scoring 32, but the day belonged to Denby. Maybe if they had declared they could have won and gained the 27 points

Ilkeston Rutland 129-9 lost to Ockbrook 131-4 by 6 wickets

Recent rain had livened up the pitch and Rutland found batting difficult Carl Doar, Ian Banks and Nick Dawson battled their way into the twenties but they had to be satisfied with a moderate total. Trevor Smith was the most successful of the Ockbrook bowlers, taking 3-29.. When Ockbrook batted they were given a decent start, with Dave Hallack making 21 and Dave Wood the top scorer on 33. Then their two strike bowlers showed resistance with the bat, Paul Aldred making 20 not out and Trevor Smith 23 not out. to see their side home in 37 overs.

Quarndon 140-9 lost to Sandiacre Town 143-7 by 3 wickets

There was quite a bit of movement in the pitch and it was probably an advantage to Sandiacre in batting second. However, Quarndon's Nick Goodwin showed the way with an innings of 62, which contained a mixture of defence and aggression, but it wasn't easy against an accurate attack with John Trueman taking 4-44 and Naeem Akhtar taking 3-38. Sandiacre's batsmen approached the modest target in a positive way, but the early attack of Duncan Player and Kevin Newbold was menacing and wickets began to tumble. There was an important response from Akhtar (29) and Simon Kinselle who kept his nerve at the end in making 26 not out. Kevin Newbold almost pulled it off for Quarndon, taking 5-37.

Sawley & LE Park 155 lost to Dunstall 236-9 by 81 runs

On this showing Dunstall impressed as a formidable outfit and look strong in all departments. James Ede was the backbone of their batting, contributing 96, and Andrew Ball added 35 not out. Ahmed Gondal took some stick but ended with 5-68. Sawley's Danny Birch continues to improve and his 54 showed the way, but there was little support apart from Gary Birley who was unbeaten on 36. For Dunstall Alan Gough took 3-36.
