Ilkeston Rutland 64 lost to Sandiacre Town 265-3 by 261 runs

This was a severe drubbing for Ilkeston, and it had the effect of putting Sandiacre back on the top of the table. Nobody could complain about the pitch as John Trueman and Chris Attwood showed. They put on 182 for the first wicket before Attwood was out for 81 and Trueman for 92. Then it was the turn of Naeem Akhtar who ripped through the Ilkeston innings, taking 6-12 in a spell which was fast and very accurate. They had no answer to him, and the only player to show resistance was young George Molds who scored 21.

Dunstall 142 lost to Ockbrook 144-2 by 8 wickets

The competition for the top spot in this League looks like developing into a three horse race. Dunstall and Sandiacre are clear contenders, but Ockbrook have been stalking them and can be expected to pounce with a winning challenge. They demonstrated their potential in this game when they clearly out played Dunstall. Batting first Dunstall were always struggling to mount a big score, and best efforts came from James Ede (47) and Alan Gough (42). Their modest total saw them all out in the 55th over, a slow pace by their standards, with Ockbrook’s Trevor Smith taking 3-32 and Ian Darlington 4-41.Jamie Guthrie (37 not out) and Dave Hallack (30 not out) saw Ockbrook comfortably home after Johnny Owen (53) had boosted the score.

Quarndon 265-7 lost to Denby 266-3 by 7 wickets

Quarndon had every right to be satisfied with their batting display and Billy Bagshawe’s innings of 136 was a joy to watch. It contained seventeen fours and two sixes. All the Denby bowlers took some stick, but Michael Deane persevered and gained three wickets for 73. It looked a daunting score to chase, but this Denby side never gives up and on a pitch made for batting they maintained a good run rate from the start. Openers Ben Pery-Taylor and Nick Statham looked confident until Perry-Taylor had to retire with a leg strain. Statham was joined by Ian Parkin who remained to carry his bat for 109 not out, which included fourteen fours and two sixes, a genuine match winning innings. Statham was out for 55 and Parkin had further support from Stuart Poplar (35). The winning run came with 4 overs to spare.

Chesterfield 163 lost to Langley Mill 280-6 by 117 runs

This was one of Langley Mill’s good days. They posted the biggest score of the day, with a team effort which saw Sam Patel score 71, with good support from Simon Lacey (45), Josh Mierkelns (39 not out), Rahim Karim (38), and Shafiq Dad (37). For Chesterfield Dave Adams took 3-64 and was top scorer in their reply with 33, but the batting failed to hold out against good spells from Lacey (4-35) and Karim (4-31).

Clifton 118-2 beat Alvaston & Boulton 117 by 8 wickets

A&B’s batting let them down and they were tumbled out in 32.1 overs with Simon Moore taking 5-60 and Li Ali 3-36. It was a steady reply from Clifton with Mohammed Masood scoring 31 and Kamran Afzaal 52 not out., as they reached their target in the 34th over. So, A&B go back to the bottom relegation spot.

Sawley & LE Park 121 lost to Wirksworth 123-2 by 8 wickets

Sawley batted first and came up against some good bowling from Kevin Hunter (4-24) and Israr Adalet (3-31), but they must concede that they batted badly. Wirksworth have the knack of springing surprises and they responded very confidently to this challenge, losing only two wickets in the process. Hunter completed a good match by scoring 42 not out and Adnan Naeem joined in by scoring 49.
