Liverpool stutter as Man U hang on for 2-1

If tonight's match means anything, it is that neither of these two teams are in same class as Arsenal or Chelsea. Liverpool were very poor in first half.
Strangely they improved after Gerrard went off injured. In the last 15 minutes they put the Manure goal under siege, but a lack lustre Kewell failed to ignite any spark. Baros was more direct but he couldn't get the ball in the net as Manure went deep. Ferdinand's presence seemed to resuscitate Silvestre, with the latter scoring two. Carroll gave the Manure goal a lease of life that Howard probably wouldn't have.
Benitez has obviously got a lot of work to do before Liverpool become real contenders. However the jury is still out on Man U, however a sharper team than Liverpool would surely have scored more than one.
