Sir Alex bottled it?

According to a few Manure online fanzines* Sir Alex is master of the mind games, but when it comes to a real fight did he bottle it? Harry Pearson in today's Guardian recalls that:

"Sir Alex Ferguson's account of the so-called Battle of the Buffet, during which, he alleges, Arsène Wenger "raised his hands" and came towards him asking if he wanted to "do something about it".

The news that in this day and age a Frenchman can offer a Glaswegian the opportunity for a square go and not finish the exchange picking his teeth off the floor with a broken arm may have undermined one of life's old certainties-"

Now Harry Pearson has reminded us that this is Sir Alex's account. So what did Sir Alex want to do about it? Why didn't Alex demand his apology there and then, instead of whining to the press months later? Could it be that it he doesn't like it up him?

* An example of this kind of gloating from Red Rant (Manure Fanzine)

"He's a boxer (Wenger) on the ropes with a ferocious opponent coming in for the kill. Get your guard up son or you're done for!"

But it would seem that Wenger had Ferguson on the ropes and Alex refused to put his guard up.

(You can always give your favourite manager a slap here.)
