Campbell played his second reserve game since his recovery, and Justin Hoyte played his first game since injury in February. Aliadiere came closer to match fitness with two more goals; and van Persie scored the third from a free kick.

It raises the question of whether Sol Campbell will play on Saturday, and if he does who will partner him? If he plays it must be Senderos, Wenger has hinted that is possible. But is Campbell match fit? The only way he can get match fit is by playing top class matches. But is the Semi Final the place to start – only Wenger knows the answer to that.

Also we need Sol for the Chelsea game, surely it would be very hard to bring him back for the first time for that game. There again could he manage two top class games in a few days? Chelsea will be well rested having, no match on the weekend. Will Wenger be prepared to stay with Kolo and big Phil and wait even longer for Campbell?

Almunia did not play in goal but Taylor did. Does that mean Lehmann has got the go ahead for the cup? I suspect it does.
