The Fat Lady Has Sung – Everton Preview

Second place has been decided, the fat lady bellowed lustily at Old Trafford where Chelsea’s second string beat a first string Manure 3-1. Earlier this week Ferguson claimed there was very little difference between the two teams – err only 20 points so far. Wake up and smell the coffee Sir Alex.
I don’t believe third place and a 20 point deficit is a platform for Man U to win the Premiership again. It’s not their trophy anymore, and no pre season break for them. Congratulations Arsene Congratulations Arsene for keeping Arsenal in the top two for every one of your eight full seasons at Highbury. Long may your reign continue. So for the first time, since who knows when, this Wednesday’s game is not a must win match. But Arsene will not want the gap between Arsenal and Chelsea to widen too much. So he will still go all out for a win. At the same time Everton have also heard the fat person singing, Wednesday is not do or die for them, and they have probably been celebrating that they are the best team on Merseyside, and with the incidental, but added bonus of being in Europe. So perhaps there will not be much resistance. Moyes certainly has achieved a miracle on a shoe string budget, and also suffering the treachery of the fat granny shagger, and poaching by Real. I must admit I didn’t rate his chances of being 4th, unless it was from the bottom. Moyes deserves an award. King Henry Returns As Myles Palmer brilliantly predicted quite a few weeks ago, Henry would be back in time for the cup; and hopefully the Golden Boot and Shoe. I suspect Wenger decided to give him time to recover from all his injuries. What a genius Arsene is, he overtakes a Man U, who were on red-hot form, by resting his best striker. Lets hope the rest has refreshed Henry and not made him rusty. So are we still a one man team dependant on him (according to some rival fans). I suspect Campbell will get a major chance to play some role against Everton, we have had a lot of matches, and either Kolo or Senderos deserves a rest. He will have to manage with out Gilberto’s shielding. No sign of Ljungberg yet, but Silva should be back on Sunday. There is no mention of Pires, so perhaps he is ok. As we will have had 3 games in 9 days by Sunday’s game at Birmingham, and the cup final will then be less than a week away Arsenal fans should be prepared to see some squad rotation over the next few days. Wenger has already said that Sol will play in at least one of the next two games.
No must win
