Major blow for lacklustre Nuns

Nuneaton.......5 Blaydon.......20 Time appears to be running out for beleaguered Nuneaton after they slipped to a costly defeat against another of the sides at the wrong end of the National Division Two table. The manner of the loss was particularly disappointing,
as Nuns looked a different side to the one that had ground out a win over Waterloo just seven days earlier with poor ball control, discipline and wrong options handing valuable possession to a Blaydon side who appeared to want the win more.
After an even first 10 minutes the home defence was breached for the first time as Jason Smithson crossed for an unconverted try in the corner.
Nuns' backs showed a glimpse of what they are capable of on the half hour, executing a quick passing move across the 22 with Will Cave collecting the final pass to go over to level.
But two minutes later Blaydon tapped a penalty in their own 22 and, with Nuns completely switched off, charged upfield for left wing Andrew Fenby to claim a try which Daniel Kyle converted for a 12-5 lead at the change.
Blaydon stretched their lead 15 minutes into the second half, Kyle kicking a simple penalty, and with Nuns repeatedly kicking possession away and giving the eager opposition backs every opportunity to run the ball back, the home side's fate was sealed on 65 minutes when a bungled clearance and missed tackles gifted hooker Matthew Hall another try in the corner.
