GUILD got off to an excellent start, John Chare picking up the ball from a line-out and diving over in the corner for a try converted by Rob Meikle. But Atherstone reduced the arrears with a penalty before half-time and edged in front with a try. And although Meikle's penalty briefly restored Guild's lead, they squandered their second-half possession and were punished for some feeble tackling
when their hosts powered through for the decisive converted try.
