Moseley on the up, says Nathan Bressington

NATHAN Bressington believes Moseley have put their recent troubles behind them with last weekend’s first victory in five matches and can travel to Sedgley Tigers tomorrow in upbeat mood. Just as the 27-year-old winger, who scored twice in the 22-13 win against Esher on Saturday, looks to be regaining his best form after a quiet couple of months, so too the whole Mose team look to have turned a

corner following a string of defeats against National One’s leading outfits.

During their restorative win against the Surrey side though, Moseley played some of their best rugby and should have scored twice as many as the three tries they managed – a sign, Bressington maintains, that the Billesley outfit are on an upward curve.

“The feeling in the squad now is that we are getting back to our best,” he said. “We showed that in patches against Pirates and then in beating Esher last weekend.

“It all stems from when we lost heavily at Rotherham. Since then we have worked hard on our defence and really picked up. The boys definitely feel we are on the right track.”

Key to that has been an improvement in defence. After conceding 143 points in just three away days Ian Smith’s men finally tightened up in Camborne and allowed Esher just one try.

By contrast Sedgley Park have the second worst points against record in the division and with just two wins from their 10 games this term, this is a match Moseley must win if they are to gain the top-12 finish they will probably need.

“We have had a couple of grinding wins away from home and that has helped us,” Bressington said.

“But Sedgley is always a tough place to go. They are leaking points but you only have to look at who they have played – some of the top sides in the league.

“They are a side that has found a way to survive in this division and I am sure they are going to be targeting us as a win.”
