THERE was good news and bad for Coventry centre Heath Stevens yesterday as he learned his knee injury is not as serious as first feared but that it will keep him out of the final home game of the season.

I have been meaning to raise the question of injuries for some time. My impression is that there seem to be more injuries per season of late, than in previous years. Assuming this is so, what are the resons for this phenomenon? Are players more highly tuned and more prone to injury. Is health and safety at work a factor. Do clubs err on the side of caution for fear of litigation if things go wrong for a player. Perhaps someone closer to the playing side of the game give us an opinion
