Coventry Rugby are delighted to announce that two experienced half backs have signed for Coventry. Fly half Cliffie Hodgson joins from Rotherham Titans, whilst Coventry welcome back scrum half Nathan Jones from Nottingham Rugby.

Clifford or Cliffie  Hodgson, joins from Championship side Rotherham Titans, where he has played the last 2 seasons. Cliffie born in Somerset West, Capetown, South Africa, is English qualified and aged 23.

In South Africa he played for Boland Cavaliers and Border Bulldogs and two years ago was recruited by Andre Bester at Rotherham Titans.  Playing mainly as fly half, although equally at home as inside centre Cliffie was virtually an ever present in his first season there. Last season his appearances were restricted to 21 as his attacking, free, open running style did not always suit the Titans tactics.

Looking to get back to his more natural style of rugby, Cliffie has jumped at the chance to join Coventry, whose recruitment this season augurs well for a more attacking style which will suit him.

Also a proven goal kicker as well as being  impressive as a line kicker, Cliffie adds an extra dimension to the Coventry side and will looking to develop his career further.

Nathan Jones, scrum half, a former player at Coventry from 2007/2010 joins  from another  Championship side, Nottingham Rugby on a two year contract..

Now aged 28, Nathan is looking to develop his career outside of rugby and following a new position which sees him based in Birmingham he welcomed the chance to come back to the club that first gave him his main professional opportunity.  After leaving Coventry Nathan played one season at Doncaster under his previous coach at Coventry  Brett  Davey,  playing 12 times.  Last season he went to play for another Championship club Nottingham, playing 17 times for them.

Impressed with the new set up at Coventry Rugby both on the field and behind the scenes, Nathan feel s that the Coventry club now has ambitious but realistic aims and he feels his experience can only assist the club in these aims.

With Cliff Hodgson being another centre option (or FH with Luke Myring at 12), along with the 4 other centres, I'm guessing that Heath Stevens won't be here next season. ?? Which will be disappointing, if that's the case.

Last I heard, which was a while ago, was that Heath was on trial at Bedford Blues.
