Two new Coventry Rugby signings namely Ben Toft and Liam Munro who have already been advised to the media have now been interviewed, details of their comments are as follows:-
Ben Toft, aged 26, plays mainly as a fullback but also as winger, although when playing for Doncaster Knights filled in anywhere in the back line depending on who they played. Ben started off at Leicester Tigers then moved to Coventry when they were in the Championship in seasons 2006/9.He then moved to France to play for Oyonnax for two seasons, returning back to the Championship with Doncaster Knights under former Coventry coach Brett Davey .
Despite being offered fulltime contracts in the London area for the coming season Ben has decided it was time to look at careers outside of rugby. Working now locally in Warwickshire and having the chance to increase his coaching experience, Ben jumped at the chance to come back to Coventry and has accepted a two year contract.
He expects the Coventry squad so far assembled to make a firm push for the top.
Liam Munro, aged 24 was born in Leamington Spa and belonged to the Rugby Lions mini and junior section. Playing at No 7 flanker Liam was part of the Rugby Lions senior squad for 3 years and also played for the County. More internal politics at Rugby saw him move last season to Ampthill and after impressive displays for Warwickshire has decided to step up a level with a local club, and this time renewing working with one of the coaches from his Rugby days namely Peter Glackin.
A speedy flanker with a high work rate as well as preferring the fast open game he is looking forward to the season as wishes to make as many games as he can, so far having a good pre-season helped by the strength in depth of the new Coventry Rugby squad.
