The 21-year-old will have surgery on Friday to correct a protrusion of one of her lumbar spine discs. Brunt will then face a 12-week recovery programme, reviewed after six weeks, but faces a battle to be match fit for the opening Twenty20 game on 12 August. She missed a four-team series in India last winter because of a back injury.

Yorkshire and England women's fast bowler Katherine Brunt is a doubt for the summer series against New Zealand in August because of further problems with her back.
