McCartney returns to the fold
George McCartney
By The Black Cats
May 7 2009
The Black Cats should be boosted by George McCartney's return to training today. The left-back has missed five games with a calf injury, his last appearance coming in the 1-0 loss at Manchester City on March 22 - in which he was wrongly sent off.
Sunderland were successful in getting the red card rescinded after
appealing to the Football Association, but McCartney later suffered
a calf injury and has been unavailable ever since.
Manager Ricky Sbragia said today: "George has joined in a few
warm-ups with us but we hope he will train fully today and
we'll see how he does.
"It's taken a bit longer to resolve than we hoped, but
he's getting there."
Saturday's game at Bolton will come too early for McCartney to
be involved.
Sbragia has no other fresh injury concerns going into that game at
Reebok Stadium.

Waste of £5 million!
£80 million and we're still fighting relegation and have pretty much nothing to show for it.
